History of Grama Panchayat

Peringome–Vayakkara Grama Panchayat, located in Payyanur Taluk of Kannur District, is a historically significant and development-oriented Local Self-Government Institution situated in the hilly region of northern Kerala. The present Panchayat was formed in 1967 through the merger of the Peringome and Vayakkara Panchayats, which were originally established in 1954. With the introduction of the People's Plan Campaign and the decentralisation of governance, the Panchayat has witnessed remarkable progress in infrastructure and social development.
